About Hospital Overview

In 2002, MRH became a Critical Access Hospital (CAH). This designation under the Medicare program provides enhanced reimbursement to facilities in very rural areas. Since becoming a CAH, MRH has employed a significant portion of the region’s providers, ensuring access to essential healthcare services. Currently, MRH employs nine physicians and allied health professionals across various medical and surgical clinics.

MRH primarily serves the Katahdin Region, including Millinocket, East Millinocket, and Medway. Our providers also attend outreach clinics in Patten and Lincoln, caring for patients in our secondary service areas. MRH offers acute inpatient and outpatient hospital services, including 24/7 emergency care, rehabilitative services such as a swing bed program, and outpatient physician services.

MRH operates multiple locations, including the main hospital campus at 200 Somerset Street, the White Birch Medical Center at 899 Central Street in Millinocket, and MRH Walk-In Care located at 87 Main Street in East Millinocket. Additional office sites are located adjacent to the main campus.
